Abdirizak Mohamed:The legal case concerning a young man who stands accused of obtaining his registration through deceptive and fraudulent methods has now been rescheduled. The new date for this important hearing is set for May 22, 2025, allowing for further developments.
This update comes after the prosecution officially notified the Kahawa law court that they have not yet provided additional documents to the accused individual, Abdirizak Mohammed Hassan. The delay in supplying these crucial documents may impact the proceedings and the overall timeline of the case.
“We have not yet provided certain statements to the defense that were recorded from Mandera. As a result, we respectfully request an adjournment until May 22 in order to properly furnish these documents,” the prosecutors stated in their application. This request highlights the importance of ensuring that all necessary evidence is available for a fair and thorough examination during the proceedings.
Abdirizak is currently facing serious charges related to obtaining registration through false pretenses. Allegations suggest that he unlawfully registered an identity card by using the personal details of an unsuspecting couple. This situation raises significant concerns about identity theft and the potential consequences for both the victims and the accused.
A Kahawa Court has granted the prosecution until Thursday next week to supply documents to a man accused of acquiring registration by pretense.
State prosecutor Kennedy Kamau requested the court for an adjournment saying there are some statements which are not yet supplied since they were to be recorded from Mandera,
“Your honor we are yet to supply the defence some statements from witnesses who hails from Mandera hence we pray the matter be adjourned until next week,” Kamau prayed to the court.
He told the court that they have supplied all other documents except the statements they will furnish the defence with by next week. He prayed for a mention date next week to confirm the same.
While admitting the adjournment of the matter, Kahawa law courts magistrate Gideon Kiage noted that some of the documents have been served while others have not and the case could not proceed,
“The adjournment is hereby allowed for the prosecution to serve the defence with the remaining witness statements,” the magistrate ruled.
The matter will be mentioned on May 22, 2025, for pre-trial and directions.
