Senator Gloria Orwoba has received a temporary reprieve as High Judge Lawrence Mugambi has suspended her expulsion from the UDA party, pending the resolution of an urgent application filed in court. The judge issued a conservatory order halting the implementation of the UDA Party Disciplinary Committee’s decision made on May 16, 2025, which sought to expel her as a member and nominated senator.
The case is set to be mentioned on June 3, 2025, following a strong challenge from Orwoba’s legal team, led by lawyer Mabeya N. Moses, who argued for the suspension of the disciplinary hearing and sought to prevent any actions that could lead to her removal from office.
The UDA had cited multiple instances of misconduct, including her participation in the welcoming of former CS Matiang’i, which Orwoba contests as a violation of the party’s code of conduct. In her urgent application, she accuses the UDA of procedural impropriety, bias, and constitutional violations, asserting that the disciplinary process is unfairly aimed at ousting her.
